Has the forum finally decided on the best performnace battery for a Cerbera. Forget the Halfords models, it does not fit. A make, model, part number and source would be great.

Fitted one of these today, started with a bang rather than the few turns the old 072 (halfords) took, may have been a coincidence, ill know more after the cold start in the morning.

That looks the terminals are in the wrong place - You sure this one fits?

Yep - I fitted the same one. Goes in with room to spare and is a lot more powerful than a type 72.

Can recommend Tanya too. Very quick delivery. smile

Ta very much - it just looked like the termimals were too central and wouldn't 'poke out of the hole'

It doesn't quite poke out of the hole, but you can still get a charger or boost lead clamp onto it....

I've just ordered an Odyssey PC1500DT. High crank rating and the ability to handle deep cycles, so no problems if the battery occasionally runs flat.

Steve.

Another vote for the Red Top here. I have had it fitted for a few months now over the winter - outside, garaged, wherever - starts first time with a very perky cough!

Crikey, I should think so for 135 quid.

Does it make the tea as well?

Nick,

Fitted an Optima Red Top 4.2RTS to my 4.5 last week no problem.

Well, the garage did it for me actually... boxedin

Had I known how easy it was, I'd have had a go myself!

Do shop around as I had mine delivered for a whole lot less than I could get it locally. PM me if you want to know where I got mine from (£146 all in).

Cheers

I've got a Red Top in my 4.5 too. Well worth the money IMO (mine was only £109 IIRC).

Oh, and without stating the bloody obvious, remember to always leave a door open whenever you disconnect the battery, and make sure you've got your keys in your pocket, not on the dashboard!

Nick, if you want any tips on fitting it, just give me a shout - I watched the mechanics do it!! boxedin

Demondad do you mean you got an Optima Redtop from Racing Green? I'm thinking of upgrading to one as it seems to get the most votes but I havn't been able to find one near that price!

Mines not optima. Check out racing greens parts website, you'll find it on there. Fits like a dream. And cheap. And no I'm not on commission!

Thing is, people with a TVR assume it needs to be expensive to be any good.

The Optima battery is probably the mutts nutts, but totally unneccessary. A sledgehammer to crack a nut.

The £80 battery with a three year warranty will do the job fine.
