I joined the AA today on their Easter offer at 139.00 for one year breakdown repair cover. This includes upto 5 breakdowns, which the AA will pay 500.00 parts and labour towards costs for each breakdown, has anybody used this ???

It's changed now to £65 for 5x £500 claims a year. In the good old days, it used to be a £100 for 3x £1000 claims.

Your larger fee, includes your breakdown cover, I guess.

As a bare minimum, anything that goes on your clutch will cone to £500 with labour. If you can guarantee all the clutch components lasting seven years rofl, don't bother with the cover smile

But they don't always pay out on the clutches....

I've just gone for the basic (cheapest) cover right now..

Only had the car a week but would save me £100 straight away on what Im having done as I could have claimed.

I thinking of upgrading now if this is at all possible (not sure you can?)

I get mine thru a deal with my bank, along with mobile and travel insurance etc

Used the AA 3 or 4 times, when (ooops i mean 'if') the time comes and you need to call them out to pick the car up just make sure the guy is careful loading into the back of the lowloader, its a very tight squeeze with the nose hitting the bed of the truck and mines is standard hight!

I sent the unit to them and hey put mine down to normal wear and tear based on the condition of the friction plates!! I tried to claim that many others had successfully claimed but they just wouldn't listen. The ?????? bearing had started to get noisy and between driving from Barnsley to Chesterfield (TCS) (25-30MILES) it totally packed up, so I tried to then dispute that it was the bearing that had failed prematurely and caused catastrophic failure to the clutch....didn't work though.

I think the fact that it only had one finger left in tact didn't help thoughhehe, there was a picture somewhere that Joolz posted but I can't find it.

Running like a dream rev cloud9 Still some tweaking to be done to release a few more ponies, but so nice to have him back...just in time for the snow!

Almost ready for the Speed Trials Al, how's your organising going?

Policy only applies to cars less than 10 years old, and clutch mechanical failure is definitely covered. Basic cover through bank is a big bonus and makes very worthwhile.

I hope that when my car reaches 9 years 11 months the clutch will oblige.

I have heard that some sneaky people are known for fabricating failures, substituting their clutch for example with a knackered one. If anyone from AA is reading this, I absolutely do not condone this. Scandalous.

I believe your car has to breakdown and be recovered by the AA for you to be able to make a claim.

Had my clutch done no probs.

However mine is a 1997 so I can't get the cover anymore!!
