Just as I'm getting most things sorted along comes another niggle.

My drivers side window doesn't work every time I press the button and sometimes doesn't drop / raise when I open / close the door.

If it doesn't raise once I close the door it usually comes alive again if I open and close the door.

I've removed the door panel and cleaned the contacts.

This worked for about two weeks (but then again I didn't use the car a lot during that time).

Now it's back acting up again.

I'm thinking it may be a crack in the cable coming out to the door because of the opening / closing bit sorting it.

Any ideas of anything else that may be causing it?????

I forgot to try that.

Time to go and find a magnet to test it, methinks.

Top tip on adjusting door sensor,

Place a small amount of blue tack over end of reed sensor and close door, on opening door again you have a very clear idea on how far you can adjust it out with out causing damage to sensor or magnet.

Or you could get a multimeter and go into your boot to connect the white/purple connection (A1) from the long connector to the door/window control unit as the negative and use the positive from the power connector (the one with just two wires red and black). The readings should be 0v (or near to 0) when the door is closed and 12v with the door open. If the voltage doesn't drop to 0v with the door closed then it is time for a new switch (when they break down they tend to read 12v constantly).

If you don't get any readings at all (always 0v) I have my neg and positive the wrong way around (I am writing this from memory) so you should switch the multimeter connectors to use the positive as the white/purple and the negative as the negative from the power connector.

I think I have it sorted.

I took off the door panel and found the window worked if I wiggled the jack-plug feeding the window motor.

I gave it a good cleaning and put it back together and it seems fine.
