Thanks to a bit of Trackcar magic my car has joined the 400+ club smile

It went in as a standard 4.5, and put out 362bhp and 340lbft of torque - not too bad.

Joo fitted his whirlwind induction, full Silverstone exhaust and remapped the MBE, to give 410bhp and 350lbft. bow

Drove it back to Surrey this afternoon and have had time to reflect on the changes. I can't decide what I'm more impressed with, the performance or the sound. The SP exhaust sounds incredible, hard edged, racy but refined with a slight howl, not unlike an Aston IMO. Fantastic. As for the performance, the figures don't do it justice. Over 4krpm it really flies. 4th gear on the motorway is devastating smile

Big thanks to Joo for his efforts (and coffee) thumbup. Needless to say I'm chuffed to bits.

There's a gauntlet for you, Russ, Joo tells me you're next...

410 yikes ...... Ouch...... laugh

I'm booked on the 8pm train home, so I'll probably spend a late afternoon drinking & eating in Chesterfield smile

I've just left Simonkd wavey in the pub, and I think he'll be one of Joo's next customers.

Rog, what's the score with the cats on the SP system ? In, out..... Shake em all about smile ?

Did I already say "410 yikes" ?????

Nice to meet you! Are you two going to be betting on who's going to end up with the faster car? wink

The cats have been put down smile The SP comes with linked decat pipes, everything from the manifolds back. It's well made too (I'm starting to sound like boss) with hefty flanges and tank-like rear box construction smile

Yep the SP system is good. Went for it on the race car. Gets through sound testing easily which is good!

The engine in the race car has also been worked on by TCS.

I must admit I was surprised by how refined this type of mod makes the cars, I've barely used the power yet.

Great result. It just gets better the more you drive it. Had mine done last year and its the best money I've spent on the car!

Anyone got a sound clip of a cerbie fitted with the SP exhaust?

Out of interest, what's the rough cost of all this work.

Having read this forum for nearly a year it sounds like the short induction, Silverstone exhaust, remap and uprated suspension was actually how the Cerbera should have been when new. These are my planned mods, lets hope it goes as well for me.

Yea, good idea. I'll bet Russ £50 that mine makes more power, and I'll bet you £25 that Russ wins.

So Russ, you owe me and Joo £25 each smile (unless you want to up the stakes)

  • Roughly* £1k or thereabouts for initial dyno run, supply and fit whirlwind, remap of MBE on the dyno (a day's work well spent) coolant fan mod (if wanted), road tuning for drivability and an implicit health check/diagnosis of anything untoward. Not including anything found during check of course, in my case a new throttle pot and throttles balanced. Joo also fitted the exhaust for me. The exhaust itself is another ~£1k from SP. As others have said, money well spent.

I can't help thinking that deal doesn't work out very well for me smile

I'm not confident of my car beating those figures of yours Roger. Based on my figures last November, I reckon I'm about 20bhp/10flb down on your start point and that was with nearly new hoses...Does it sound like I'm getting my excuses in early ?........

That hotel opposite Chesterfield station was in surprisingly good condition, I am from B'ham after all smile

Reading threads like this makes me want to book mine in ASAP, but then another part of my brain says why?

My car drives really well, isn't lumpy in traffic and pulls hard in every gear. It has just had a new ECU and some mapping work at TVR power so would I be wasting my time? Perhaps the 1k'ish involved would be better spent on suspension/brakes or go into the emergency fund.

But then I see a pic like this and I wnat to book in ASAP again, sod the power gains:
