My Cerb has the early type seats which I think are very comfortable, however I feel they are just an inches or so too high for me. I always feel my head is too close to the side of the rollcage, particularly if I wear a crash helmet. I suppose some kind of racing seats would be the answer if it had a much thinner base, or even a removable cushion.

Does anyone else have the same problem and have they replaced the standard seat with anything better?

I often take the seat squab out of mine, but they are the later seats. This gives you an extra inch or two (ooh err!) and that bit of extra headroom. Apparently for when you are wearing a helmet...

I'm actually planning on making an IndiSeat for my car.

The plan is to use the original seat but remove the internal padding, etc from it and fit the bag into it.

It'll have to be re-trimmed but that is planned anyhow so isn't an issue for me.

I plan to use this type of kit (the 40 ltr one) .....

I see, it's the old expanding foam fit like they used to use to fit drivers into F1 cars, (or maybe they still do it that way?) anyway will be interesting to see how it looks when its finished.

It will be happening later in the year (probably near the end of the summer) and I'll definitely be posting about it once it happens.

I have someone lined up to help me who knows how to do the job properly and also I have a trimmer who's willing to have a go at padding it and re-trimming it.

I have every confidence in his ability as he did my doors, etc last year and they were brilliant.

I did have a concern about the comfort of using one but I reckon it'll be ok.

I got to (attempt to) sit in a few F1 ones and it turns out that Mark Webber's was the only one I could fit into as the other ones they had were way too small.

The plan is to make it with extra clothes on and pad it with 25mm of foam so it should fit me properly.

We'll see .....

Hi Erich, I've put a race seat in mine using off the shelf side mount plates. The critical dimension seems to be the width of the shoulder area - the Cerb windows lean in quite a bit.

Before I put the race seat in, I simply removed the adjustable runners from beneath the standard seat and then bolted it straight to the floor. The four holes lined up perfectly for this and this lowered the seat by about an inch. Worth trying, it only took about 30 minutes.

Simon, that's interesting, so the floor holes happened to line up just right to suit your driving position presumably, suppose one could always drill some new holes to suit if not. What make and model of seat did you use?

Yes, luckily it suited me. The front two holes go through a chassis tube, the rear two just through the fibreglass floor.

I used an old 'Bride' (Japanese) race seat I found on ebay. Some of the guys that sprint/race Cerberas will have some better suggestions I'm sure . smile
