Hello,
the sports exhaust of my Cerb is definately too loud and I urgently need an original blackbox in a good condition from somebody who is willing to ship it to Germany.
Please email me if you´ve any offers.

I made the same change a few months back.

It's made the car a lot more user-friendly.

Do it.

Oh, and I got it off someone on here so keep bumping your post 'til you get one.

I thought of doing this when I got my second cerb as my first one had a sports exhaust and are a bit loud. I looked around for a while and couldn't find any in decent condition.

They are pretty badly made and will fall apart quite soon even if you do manage to find one. For this reason I went for the Silverstone Performance exhaust. Apart from managing to put a small dent in the underside of it the exhaust is great. Also with the decat pipes it reduces the temperature of the central tunnel noticeably. Highly recommended.

or does anybody know if I can get a new original exhaust anywhere?
Thanks guys

Manfred,

To be honest I don't know as I have never owned a standard back box. What I do know is that the SP exhaust is much quieter than a sports exhaust.
I went from a sports exhaust with cats to an SP exhaust (which I have tried without cats) and it is much quieter. It is also a much nicer noise in my opinion.

Anyone know how this compares to a standard exhaust?

P.S. I think the chances of getting a new standard exhaust are slim.

Whilst I don't have the SP exhaust myself, I do know a few people who have it fitted and having been with them on TrackDays, they are within the noise limits without the aid of additional silencers.

So they are definately a quieter option, but they also retain a good sound too.

My Cerbera is currently too loud with sports box and de-catted - it was a not planned to be that way - I am saving up for an SP exhaust tongue out.

Ditto
After I blew a cat I went to decat pipes. My car was 106db at 4k revs with cats and sports rear box. Now it's 114-116db so I don't stand a chance of getting that down for trackdays and it's a little loud for journeys. The overrun sounds fantastic though smile

Touching Cloth has the Sp exhaust and it sounds subdued at low revs but still has that Cerbera sound we love at higher revs, just at a lower volume. A bit more neighbour friendly.

There are two adverts in the Parts section of the classifieds on this site advertising 4.2 Cerbs for breaking:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/322790.htm
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/240805.htm

Perhaps get in touch and see if either has a decent condition back-box for you, and if he'd be willing post to das Vaterland?

Thank you guys for your response. My Cerb is also decatted and loud as hell. Don´t know what the police is doing in the UK but in Germany it is pretty expensive if a car is loud as mine. So I think the best decision is to order a new SP back box and I hope it will be moderate.

If anyone is interested in real loud and almost new sports exhausts, let me know

Yep, go SP it's the ideal compromise, very similar in design (externally at least) to the original exhaust box so sits nicely too - it's loud enough when giving it the big guns that you don't feel like a big jesse but quiet enough at tickover that you can burble quietly out of a residential area fairly early without annoying too many people. When cruising it has really transformed my car into a great GT as before it was pretty uncomfortable travelling for too long.

Here is mine on a RR for an example.
