Hi,

I've had my 4.5 Cerb for almost a year now & she's been virtually faultless so far, so I haven't had cause to post before.

The baffles in the back box have started rattling, so I need to replace it, but what should I go for? I'd like something a little louder, but not ridiculously loud - I'll keep the cats. The Silverstone Performance exhaust seems to be a little quieter than the standard setup, so I'm not that keen on that.

What companies do 4.5 sports exhausts? I've looked at ACT - does anyone have experience of their products?

Who else should I look at? Is there much difference between the various sports pipes in terms of loudness?

Thanks in advance!
Andy

Hi Andy

Make sure it is the baffles rattling. I though mine were a while back but the noise just turned out to be the heat shield on top of the left hand side of the backbox. 2 spot welds had broken and the shield was rattling against the backbox.

Mine now decatted with the standard exhaust which to me is a good compromise in the loudness stakes.

Regards
Simon.

Thanks Simon, good thought - I checked and the heatshield is a bit loose on one side, not sure if it is loose enough to hit the back box though. I need to have a closer look. Interesting idea about decatting, but with me being a bit lazy, I don't think I can be bothered with the hassle at MOT time!

Tim's exhaust not as raspery as the one i had on before (and this was sleeved so was always going to be loud) but i've got to say the deep tones of the ACT exhaust is great... still bedding it in, very pleased with it, looks great too!

Are you able to pass noise tests for track days with the sports exhaust and decat?

Talked to an owner of a Tuscan with sports exhaust who said his wouldn't pass noise tests.

I've got a 4.5 with the ACT 3" sports tail pipes with no cats fitted. It's got a nice sound when bumbeling about and on acceleration. On the over-run it pops and bangs big time. No way would it pass a noise test on a track day (unless it was unlimited). Sounds like one of those GT track cars. Gets a bit tiresome after a while though. Looking at alternatives - full SP system maybe. Interesting thread elsewhere.
