Hi
Due to pressure from the wife I have changed the head unit in the cerb for a new Bluetooth unit (Stops her moaning when I use the mobile)
When I removed the old unit I found that the aerial plug had a red wire fitted to it. This went to the Iso plug but it had no connection on the other Iso plug. Has anyone any idea what this red lead is for i.e earth or power?
Hope some one can help and thanks in advance.

Hi, Isn't the rear screen heater used as an aerial on the cerb? Might be some bodge to get the heated rear screen working !

I think the thin red wire is a live feed for the radio ariel amplifier. Maybe just check it with a test light or a bulb.smile

I thought the aerial on my cerbera is hidden in the wiring under the dash.

When I did my ICE I discovered that:

The correct adapter to use is one for a Land Rover defender 8/79+ and Land Rover Discovery 11/89 to 3/94. I got mine from sextons for £12 and it's really easy to remove the centre plastic locking device and pull the pins out to put them in the correct place.

As said this needs modifying as the leads are not in the correct order and small platic bits just need nibbling from it to make it fit. It's quite obvious where.

For the record there are two rows of six pins divided into sets of three. On my cerbera these were

RED Green Grey Grey/Black Green Green/black
Battery Ign Spk FR+ Spk FR- Spk FL+ Spk FL-

Red/White Black Green/black Green/Red Grey/Red Grey/Black
Illum Earth Spk RL- Spk RL+ Spk RR+ Spk RR-

Hi (Again)
Thanks for the advice so far!
The red wire is attached to the wire of the aerial plug. and has no power to it.
Am I correct in assuming that it needs 12+ to it to activate the aerial amp. Because at present the radio reception is very poor.
In fact the worst reception in an TVR I have had!
Can any one confirm this as I don't want to put power to it and find it fuses the systems at least, or at worst sets fire to the cerb!

LOL - the standard aerial on the cerbera is indeed very poor. I've had reasonable results with a halfords powered aerial (about £12? for the sticky windscreen types) but I've run it to the rear of the car and stuck it to the underneath of the rear boot lip, inside the boot above the fuel tank. It seems to pick up ok from here but reception still drops in poor areas.

I might experiment with a DAB add on to my head unit next.
