Hello

im currently going to get my cerb (4.2) totally rebuilt and ive decided to go to a 4.5 but with the 4.2 induction - gas flowed and polished heads, remap etc etc

does anyone have any experince of a 4.5 but with 4.2 induction? any figures etc??

i have been told that the engine would be a 400+ bhp model

views?!

I believe JonnyW's race Cerb is a 4.5 with a 4.2 induction, and that makes 400+bhp.

My cerb was a 4.2 but was increased to a 4.5 by the previous owner. According to track car solutions its running 402bhp.
I have a file full of the tickets from the work that was carried out, so pm me if you need any info.

I wasn't saying that was low, but the weight and power figures were PERFECT. Not worth John going over 400 as it would move him up a class from what I understand.

Andy does build 'nice' engines. yes

He does yes

I'm actually looking forward to the day when my engine gives me a good enough reason for a rebuild hehe

That's the really important bit to me, not seen a graph but almost certainly with 90% of it available between 2.5K-7K rpm. All backed up by a crisp throttle response of the 4.2 yes.

What was your Harry, 435? Albeit with a bit more internal trickery if I remember, altered compression ratios and the like.

Feel free to set fire to mine while you're there.

One's having the engine rebuilt & the other's just been carted off on the back of an AA wagon with a knackered clutch cry

Bummer Russ. I take it the reason for the lacklustre performance turned out to be a lack of compression? At least it'll come back better than ever.

No.... The one i've been moaning about is the 4.5, it was badly mapped & was putting out 333-343.. Still managed 145mph at FT though smile

It's been mapped now to 377..... Still prefer my old 4.2 though. That's having some 4.5 bits fitted aswell, that old car's very light & rattly.. And it's more of an experience driving it smile

I think it's ready to go back together now, they're waiting on me to get the covers back to them. The guy polishing the inlets has had them two weeks, I've told him I'm going round to collect them tomorrow.....whether he's finished them or not.
