Went to the garage tonight to get the Cerb out for a pre-Chatsworth clean, only to find the clutch has gone ( or at least it fells like it, it won't go into gear at all & pedal feels slightly spongy ).

Where should i go in the East Mids to get sorted, & what's the availability like for clutches at the moment?

Don't have a cerb, but it sounds like it could be losing clutch fluid to me.

Have you tried topping it up? It may be a leaky master/slave cylinder.

Fingers crossed!

Bob.

Might just be out of fluid, cut the sealant off around the cover and have a peek. Could be a quick and easy fix.

2 Things to check,is there fluid in the drivers footwell?if so your seals have gone in your master cylinder...or...is there fluid underneath the car?if so seals have gone in the slave cylinder...sorry.To check the fluid in the master cylinder you have to remove the radiused black plastic cover on the drivers side inner wing by removing the sealant around it & undoing the two screws.

Thanks for this, i've just had a quick check, & the fluids seem ok, & drivers well is dry. Is the clutch fluid the one within the drivers side bulkhead, below the under-bonnet valance panel??? ( my owners handbook has a duplicate picture where the clutch fluid one should be!! )

I'm A bit suspicious about you doing a quick check of the clutch fluid level smile
You did chop out all the silicone sealant and remove that big round precision engineered fibre glass cover (Just like an Audi or Porsche would have on them really laugh) and the 2 self tapping screws?

Brake fluid.

The one for the clutch is next to it sealed by the black cover which is held on with 2 screws and black mastic.

You need to remove the black (on mine at least) kneecap looking thing, probably sealed with large amounts of mastic. Cut through the sealant with a blade and then find and undo the 2 screws to finally remove - inside is the clutch reservoir.

Refitting is the reverse sequence to removal. biggrin
