One of my brake lights is out, and it's not the bulb.

Any tips before I start the Sherlock impression with the multimeter?

You could still need your multimeter but, if you have the origional Fiesta lights, sometimes its the multiplug on the end of the loom, the terminals are loose on the bulb holder or become corroded.
Also worth a check, if there is power and earth on the wires, is the actual metal bulb holder terminals loosing thier spring and not making contact. Hope any of this helps.

I had the same prob with the same car if I recall correctly. Are you sure you have put the correct bulb in. Some bayonets are slightly different shape (if that makes sense). Try the bulb from the other side?

Hi Gary, I did notice that it had that fault showing on one of the old MOT reports.
I've solved it now anyway - the holder is a little bit screwy, so the spring bit actually pushes the bulb out of contact (perhaps it got a bit bent at some previous stage). I've just wrapped a little ring of welding wire around the bulb cap to make a snug fit, and all seems good.
