Hi Guys,

Just a quick note to say hi, collected my new (to me!) Cerbera last night, wow think every ride will be a scarey one ! ! ! bit quicker that the old Volvo diesel ! a 1997 in BR Green with cream leather. Apart from a big maintenance budget, any advice ? ? ? Also whats this about an emergency door opening device ? Am i likely to be locked out ? Cheers

Hi,

Welcome to the fold - good decision you've made (if expensive) hehe

I'll say it first as they'll all say it - take it VERY easy for the first few months and never unleash the horses unless it's bone dry and you're pointing in a straight line. Quite a lot of cerbs have been lost to new owners in the first few days, and we don't want to lose another!! driving

Regarding ways in and out, you need to get along to a meeting and talk to other cerb owners. We're not keen to give out advice about getting in and out on here in case someone wants to steal our pride and joy!! Sorry if that sounds unwelcoming, it's not meant to be and I hope you'll understand.

Welcome again (and did I say what a good decision you've made??)

Cheers

Rob

I understood the question to be about the emergency door releases (which incidently, are by the drivers and passengers feet, and you should make sure they work immediately, as finding out that they don't when you really really need them would not be funny).

As for the lock-out protocol, ask the previous owner, a dealer, or as Rob suggests, at your local club meet.

I'll also reiterate the comment about taking it easy until you're up to speed with the car, especially if you're coming from a diesel Volvo!

Best

Hi, Congratulations on the purchase. Sounds great, please take your time to get to grips with it. I've had mine for 3 months and am still learning how to drive it, the only issues , up to now, have been a wiped out nearside tyre on a pothole, ( 18" spiders with 35 profile tyres, )and temperature/fan problems traced to a broken wire in the temperature sender plug.
Enjoy.

Cheers

Congrats and welcome!
You've definitely made the choice, an amazing car to drive where every journey becomes an occasion.
Take it easy... but do take it.

As a newbie to my Cerbera myself, I can vouch for the advice given so far.

I took a long time biker friend out in my Cerb last week and he said he had always wanted to have his internal organs re-arranged!

Reading on here has told me that it may be best to take your Cerb to an independent Cerbera specilist, rather than one of the old dealers.

Don't let your battery go dead and you won't have to find out about the other method of entry.
If you can, leave the bonnet unlocked, just in case the battery does go flat and then its just a charge of jump to get in.

I remember the feeling as mine rolled out of the garage for the first time. In fact it's the same feeling every time I take it for a spin. Enjoy.

Red pull handles underneath the doors - yes they're very obvious. Make sure they work - you don't wanna be caught out without them eek
The windows won't drop like they do with the button, but the door should open OK.

If the window doesn't drop, will it clip (and damage) the upper plastic surround when trying this out?confused

Just ask in the regional forums of PH. There's bound to be PH or TVRCC meets in your area. smile

Congrats.

Now take it easy, build up to it, possibly do an airfield track day after a while so you know how it handles, the car or your limits etc.

Try not to go into the garage too often to look at it.

Check the outrigers for rust, especially on the corners where they can be damaged from debris from the wheels. Ensure there isn't a build up of mud.

Maintenance costs. Put aside £3k a year and if your lucky like me you won't have to spend it and can improve the car instead.

if you're worried you can always just put the window down a bit! But when i've tried it, it doesn't damage it - it's only rubber
