problem replacing the aircon belt
Discussion
I could see the aircon belt was perishing so I bought a new one from Clevor Trevor (or some-such site). I undid the tensioner and the old one came off fine, new one appears the same length but is giving me a real workout while I try to fit it.
Is this normal? Any tips for slipping the new one on?
Cheers,
Phil

It's a right pain, as ridds said take the pulley off & it is just possible to slip it on.
An easier way is to still remove the pulley, but just get it started one side then crank the engine for a spilt second (not long enough for it to start) & if you had it on the correct side it will work its self on as the crank rotates.

Thanks for the suggestions.
marcus1970: when I refer to the tensioner I mean the small wheel on the left hand side of the belt (when looking at the front of the engine). Don't know if that's the official name but it is adjustable and tensions the belt so I'd call that a tensioner!
