Shall I stick my helmet in the hole?
Discussion
I think the great big bass speaker that my car came with is frucked. Having a dig around this morning Ive managed to remove the speaker (more by luck than judgement) and behind it is a servicable helmet hole. I dont really need a big boom boom speaker and having a dig around the Cerbera Register I stumbled across this little beauty:

What's the thinking? Too bling bling?
Will I look like (or even more like) a berk if I drive around with my helmet in the hole?
Are there any alternative Carbon suppliers?
May aswell finish it off with this too

I've never found a helmet small enough to fit in the hole. Mine's abnormally large (size 64!), because I've got a funny shaped head, but my friend who was at the ring with me had a fairly normal sized one (56), which was a country mile away from fitting. So unless you've got a tiny, tiny head, or are willing to reshape the seat bolsters, I wouldn't bother ...
Self restraint has managed to keep this post double-ententre free, despite all the talk of large helments, holes and the ring.
Oh, and p.s. If that you're taking out is a sealed, or semi-sealed enclosure - PM me the dimentions, I might be interested in taking it off your hands...

Don't like the carbon at all. Using it to reduce weight is one thing, but adding it for the look seems pretty pointless.
For that really special look, why not get the Missus to adorn the hole and back shelf with an assortment of soft toys (I don't mean long, squidgy jelly type soft!)
Alternatively a decorated tissue box holder, as seen in Datsuns and Mercs around East London

The ICE guy I went to this morning said that was part of my problem. The installation was just a speaker fixed to some MDF, covered in fake leather and then just wedged back in the hole. I think the actual Sony Xplod speaker is fine, just not installed properly. But now Ive got a large gaping hole to look at I think I'll stick with the view for the time being
I think I'll check out if my large helmet (
sorry, couldnt help myself) fits in the hole 'as is' before spending hard earned on a carbon one that probably wont take the helmet. Or I just get the carbon one and keep the helmet in the boot?Obviously I havent spent enough money yet on the car this year

Just tried to fit my bike helmet in that space ('98 4.2 if relevant) and there's no way (height, not width) it's ever gonna fit.
sorry, couldnt help myself) fits in the hole 'as is' Fire extinguisher, handbook and baseball cap now back in situ.

Don't worry, Mrs Fubes assures me his helmet is small enough for any hole.Self restraint has managed to keep this post double-ententre free, despite all the talk of large helments, holes and the ring.

.. but I hope that fire extinguisher is fixed down!
Fair point; never thought of that.any suggestions for mounting points in a Cerb ?
I mounted my extinguisher below the rear seats so that I can still reach it from the front but also so it doesnt get in the way.
I did once contemplate the idea of storing a bowling ball in the hole for a kind of funky look.
however, thankfully the logic finally kicked in 10 seconds later - can you just imagine the hard braking in an emergency and the helmet hole firing that cannon ball through the windscreen at a pedestrian!
besides, the addition of a bowling ball might be slightly against the ethos of the lightweight cerbera haha.
I removed my chav-o-speaker from the hole area over the weekend and make up a small sealed enclosure to the correct dimensions, fitted in the rear boot. a sub absolutely won't work at all in the helmet hole area anyway, as it doesnt form any kind of proper enclosure, never mind an enclosure of the correct capacity for a sub.
not only does it sound great in its proper new boot enclosure, I now dont have the fear of the sub being the cannonball to murder me from behind in an emergency. and also the interior looks as it should again! (i.e. over 10 years old and looking about 50 years old... )

Ref. Extinguishers, assuming most fires in a TVR are gonna be either an electrical or fuel fire in my opinion a proper 1.75 AFFF bolted under the thighs of the passenger seat for fuel fires and a small cheapy halfords powder for an electrical (less mess than a AFFF) should do fine.
Don't forget if you're gonna enter a sprint etc you need to mount the AFFF with 2x 8mm bolts.
