Anyone off to france this weekend?
Discussion
Well chaps after spending 16 weeks of sheer hell running the new pub I've finaly deceided to do one for a few days...me n the first sea lord are off to France for a few days in the Cerb...had the beast back for a few monthjs now and it's 99 per cent ready (just awaiting a new radiator) for a blast down the Autoroutes heading for a few days fishing and a blast around Le mans...anyone playing?
We're off on Sunday to Bordeaux/Cognac region. No TVR at the moment so we've had to change the ferry crossing to the Family car.
Be prepared for attention in the towns/villages (or wherever you stop). The French seem to love unusual/sports cars although the French Police seem a little inconsistant. One liked to tell me off for speeding/noise (even though I wasn't), others drove alongside and asked me to put my foot down so they could hear the noise more!
Expect to gather a small crowd when you stop. It stretched my French.

Guys - just heard from out friends who have gone over earlier. French Tanker drivers are on strike so there's a limited amount of diesel around and petrol is expected to get short by this weekend. The advice is to fill up at every opportunity apparently.

Strike Blocks Tankers in France
Thursday, May 08, 2008
A rolling strike on blocked 14 oil tankers from entering France's biggest oil port of Fos-Lavera, part of the state-run French port of Marseille, according to a Reuters report.
The total number of ships is unchanged on the previous day but down four ships compared with May 2.
"This includes eight crude oil ships and 6 refined oil tankers," the port said in a statement, adding that one gas tanker and three chemical tankers were also blocked from entering the hub.
France's national port union, part of the CGT federation, called on workers last month to stage 24-hour strikes on a weekly basis to protest against government plans to privatise loading activities at state-run ports.
Fos-Lavera, Europe's second-biggest port for oil products, supplies crude to eight refineries in southeast France with a total production capacity of around 800,000 barrels per day.
