Wahoo! Finally picked up my Cerbera 4.5 last week, after many months of late night research on the PHs forum (loads of really helpful stuff on there so thanks to all of you who've contributed thumbup)

First TVR for me but after I went for a ride in one on a trackday I knew I'd have to get one! So I took the general advice, went to look at lots of cerbs (thanks to all those owners who I met, who were all obviously enthusiasts and taught me even more about Cerbs!) and finally found exactly what I was looking for; a really well maintained Cerb in great condition. Rob Ingleby checked it over for me & gave it an excellent report which helped me buy with a bit of confidence, although I'm prepared for the usual problems!

Actually had one the first time I tried to start her up at home, when she wouldn't.frown Starter turned over but maybe a bit too slowly to fire up; ended up flattening the battery... Started fine from a jumpstart and I've now invested in an Optimate charger which seems to be doing the trick. Not sure if upgrading the battery to an Optima Redtop would reduce the need for the Optimate?

Anyway took her out for a trip to the local garage today and couldn't resist taking a 10 mile detour! What a great feeling, they really are awesome beasts! Even taking it very easy, which I intend to do for a looong time, it's an assault on the senses and I love it! It's going to be a fun summer!rotate

Welcome to the fold! - The most common problem with these cars is not being able to put them down! I had to pop out for a pint of milk this afternoon - 45 miles later....... oh yes, I remember why I came out now... enjoy and take it easy in the wet...driving

Obviously this thread is useless without pics. biggrin

Ask the old user about the starting probs, he'll be bound to know what it is, but I always put my battery on an optimate when it's back in the garage. Better safe than sorry and I've not yet had a problem.

Hi Simon wavey, well done.

Funny isn't it, I had a wedding card to deliver yesterday, it was better to drive 80 miles rather than post smile

Not had a chance to take some more scenic photos yet so these will have to do, if this works!

Come to think of it.It looks like it.It was owned by Baguaman.Spoke with him a few months back.He spent in the region of £16,000 on it in 4 months.Said that even after that it still wasnt the car for him.I was in the Vette at the time.He said by the loks of it,i made the right choice as well.Told him i still had the Cerb, and enjoyed it.He seemed a bit miffed. He now owns a Ferrari 456GT.

I think with Cerbs, you either have it for them or you dont.Obvious that the two previous owners didnt.

Yep, it had the personalised plate on when advertised but back to the original now.

Previous owner, Morpheous0, only had it since Aug 07. Great guy, think he's got the Cerb thing out of his system after one trip to the Ring! Apparently hit 185 on the autobahn before the bonnet popped open!yikes Replaced and sorted the bonnet catches after that interesting experience...
As you say, didn't do many more miles as kept garaged over the winter.

He got the gearbox rebuilt and did lots of recent "maintenance" himself; a real perfectionist by the look of the car! The previous owner, Baguaman spent loads on it as you say Mark: Full SP exhaust decatted & Austec short induction + remap(402bhp on Austec rollers), Intrax suspension, brake upgrade, new AP clutch & slave, radiator, starter etc etc. Think he was trying to make it handle like a Porschewink Been looked after by Racing Green & APM recently.

Rob Ingleby was very impressed with it and said that the performance was very good compared with other 4,5s. So I hope I've got a good 'un! cloud9

I looked at quite a few before this one and I liked nearly all of them in different ways (including yours Mark, which is a beauty) but this one had everything that I was looking for so I had to go for it!

I still can't quite believe I own her. My wife keeps finding me just looking at her in the garage, whilst I try to make up some excuse about looking for a ladder or something! Waiting for this rain to stop before I take her out again; I'd like to get used to the handling in the dry first!

BTW Craig pointed out that when he got the gearbox rebuilt, he filled it up with 1.4L of oil after, according to the handbook. It failed shortly after and had to be rebuilt again and apparently it should actually have 2.4L, not 1.4, which seems to be a typo in the manual. I couldn't find anything about this when I searched. Has anyone else had this problem?
