I assume there should be zero play in the throttle linkage ball joints. There is a small amount of play in mine. The offside throttle moves slightly before the near side. Does this need fixing or is it not worth worrying about.

A bit of play shouldn't hurt proceedings as both sides have their own springs, so there ought to always be some tension on the linkage, however it is important that the throttle plates open exactly at the same time or you'll get imbalance between the banks.

You can change the ball joints for small 'rose' joints, that takes the play out of everything.

There was someone on here selling a complete new s/s throttle rod and joints, that's where I got mine from.

Failing that here's the link to new 'ball' joints: HERE

Some discussion on the throttle linkage here

Rod ends here

You need M5 one of each left hand and right hand.

They are slightly longer than the ball joints and I had to cut a couple of millimetres off the aluminium rod for clearance.
