Bacensoredrd BMW drivers.

Coming home from work. Not in the mood for dancing. 318 crawling all over my tail. Looked for a place to let him overtake, checked him in the mirrors, looked back at the road to see a bloody great bit of rock in the middle of the lane, about 20ft away. The rock looked about 8-10" high, pyramid shaped and about the same across the base as it was high. Swerved violently, thought I'd got away with it and then CRUNCH.

When I pulled over I found a 6x1.5" piece of metal missing from the wheel rim and a crack running up one of the arms, almost to the centre of the wheel and, just for the laughs, the tyre wall was ripped along the same run as the missing piece of wheel furious

Strangely, the BMW driver didn't stop. Nothing to do with him, of course.

So, if anyone can help, I need a bit of advice. I've got 18" spiders running Toyo T1S 225/40ZR18's and 245/40ZR18's. I've never liked the way the 225's sit on the front, they look narrower than the wheel. Add to that the T1S is discontinued so:

D'y'all think I can run T1R 235/35's at the front whilst staying on the same rears? Different radius front and rear would have some affect, any ideas how bad or what form it would take? If money was no object (it's not by the way!) I'd was thinking of going to 17's with slightly wider 40 section rubber. Anyone made this kind of change?

Sorry for the long post (anger generated) and the multipart question!

I tried 240's on the front of my cerb on spiders and the tramlining was noticeably worse. The tyre fit was better with some protection for the rims and on smooth tracks handling was great. When it was time to change the front tyres again I went back to the 225's and then fitted SP12 wheels not too long afterwards. Much better now but obviously not the cheapest option.

Thanks Ceejay - I'll wait to hear back from the specialist I use on the question of mixing different tyre sections.
