Hi All

Notice my chin spoiler has gone adrift sometime this week. Can anyone tell me how long the longer edge is in this picture. I know my existing one was 3ft long and the edge with the self tappers is 1.5inches it's the angled edge length I need to know the length of to make a new one up. Looks about 3inches or so in the pic.

Regards
Simon

Just checked mine and it is two and a quarter inches to the angle before the part where the self tappers are.

Thanks Kevin63

Now just the small task of making one. Don't know whether to make it from 2mm Aluminium as standard or a thinner grade stainless steel as it is more redily available for me.

Did notice the other day when mine was on the ramps that mine was missing too. Is it worth re-instating something in its place or does it only really work at track speed/events anyway?

Can I recommend that you pierce the fixing holes in a different place to the old ones.
When I fitted the one I made, I used 6 fixings between the old ones. The old holes are likely to be enlarged slightly so drill new pilot holes for your self tappers.
Warning though........ Careful when drilling, the front wiring loom is above there somewhere!
I also used blunt point screws..... didn't wanna damage any of the already fragile wiring rolleyes

Good luck

Whats the purpose of the 'spoiler' mounted that way?It looks as if it will lift the front end at speedconfusedOn Griffs they are mounted the other way around and called a 'splitter'confusedconfused

I believe it's that way to deflect air away under the car, preventing turbulent air in the engine bay. Before I fitted mine, the bonnet would flex quite violently at speed smile

Same on Chimaeras.
According to Steve Heaths bible the splitter on the Chimaeras and Griffs is to force air up towards the radiator - hence fitted facing forwards.

It's just there to improve the pressure differential across the radiator as far as I know. I can't believe it affects the aero of the car much, and if it does having that high pressure under the front of the nose is exactly what you'd look to avoid if you were designing something properly, however the pressure reduction in the engine bay possibly offsets this.
