HI, I have a 98 4.2 cerbera and think the exhaust is past its best and was looking at options on the web and didn't come up with a great deal of information and was wondering if anybody had had a custom one made and what they thought about it and costs etc or what systems are out there, heard about the sp system but seems a bit pricey but open to sugestions.

You have ropey, Powerflow and Longlife systems.

Blueflame could do you a nice system for a little more than the 2 above.

You also have the likes of Haywood and Scott, but my preference would be to find a smaller type operation who specialise in old cars and/or bikes and get them to make one to your spec. They will basically use your existing set-up as a template but you can specify it to be slightly larger (eg 2.125" v 2.25 or 2.5 bore.....going into 3" tails), you can also get them to tidy up the joints between manifold to decat section, to centre section and then into the rear pipes/boxes, you can also get them to mount the system better etc. Cost wise you'll be looking at £400-£800 but it'll be worth every penny and bespoke to your car. You will also see a genuine performance gain.

I did this with my old Ceerb and the system looked like no other and sounded like no other, we also saw excellent gains in both power and torque.

Jules.

There is also the ACT Big Bore system (I assume they fit 4.2s?) for around £500

I have a hayward and scott www.haywardandscott.com cost was £770 for a 2.5" with 3" tails [cat back system]. You would have to book the car in, lead time is about 6 weeks, and Ian will have the car for 2 days. He will however, build an exhaust to whatever spec you want...

Hayward and scott (not haywood) are superb and in my experience not as expensive as you might think given the quality and the bespoke nature of what they do.
