Time for new boots, so I've got some decisions to make.

I've already ruled out R888s or any similar trackday specials.

I'm on Toyo T1-S's at the moment and am pretty happy with them, so a Camskill offer of £106 each for the fronts (225/35/18s) and £125 each for the rears (255/35/18s) for T1-Rs seems like a pretty good fall-back option.

BUT - I can get Goodyear Asymetricos for an extra £10 each for the fronts and £15 each for the rears. Anyone tried these? I had the GDS3s before on my M Roadster and was very impressed with them.

Finally, a wildcard suggestion - Blackcircles is listing Bridgestone S02s in the 265/35/18s (which I think it's OK to go up to on 18" Spiders???). Never tried these before but they always had a very good reputation on TVRs. Cost an arm and a leg as they're listed as Aston Martin specials, but willing to consider if they're as good as people used to say.

Thoughts??

Didn't like the GSD3's on mine, so took them off and went onto T1R's

I've always rated Toyos. They'll be my next choice. Got SO3s on at the mo and they ain't up to it.

I went for Goodyear Eagle F1s.

They transformed the handling (from S03s) - I never looked back.

Thought The Bridgestones were discontinued when they moved to S03s? The S02s were fab , the S03s rubbish. Surely the S02s are very very old stock?

I used Falken FK-452s on my old Cerb (18" Spiders) having had them recommended on here and thought they were very good in both dry and wet smile

As tested in this year's big tyre test in EVO magazine (using a Golf GTI), GY Eagle F1 Asymettricos came 1st.

Does that settle matters?

I've always sworn by Eagle F1's. Ver good grip in the dry, let you know what's happening and nearly as good in the wet. I thought I was taking it very easy in the torrential rain home from Chatsworth, but it's amazing how many other Tivs I passed that were crawling on Toyo's.

Very good wear as well. I've done 11k miles on the rears, a few trackdays and they are just coming up to replacement time.

My Cerb arrived with Toyos on and scared me stless the first time I took it out in standing water conditions. Changed to F1s and have been very happy with them the past 3 eyars.

I put the new Asymentrics on my Audi and very impressed with them (if a little boring looking) but as the Audi is a Quattro I cant really make a direct comparison with the boots on the Cerb. But, if the GS3Ds arent available come change time, I'll probably be putting the Asymetrics on the Cerb.

Having said that, the Toyo etc cut slicks look the dog's danglies (its all about the show isnt it?wink)and I very rarely take the Cerb out in the rain scratchchin

Falken FK-452s here. Just put all new boots on for the trip to Le Mans and found noise levels, ride and grip better than the previous Toyos.

Crystal - off topic. You call yourself an interim project management professional. Sounds like an oxymoron to me ?!! ;-)

Well, if all you Toyo haters had piped up earlier, I might've taken heed. As it is I've got four shiney new T1Rs giving my bedroom the alluring scent of fresh rubber. Strangely, the missus doesn't seem as pi$$ed off about the situation as I was expecting tongue out.

In all seriousness, I was happy as larry with the T1Ss, so I can't imagine I'm in for too much of a shock. I'll report back after the ring trip.

I have a foot in both the Goodyear and Toyo camps - I switched to F1s from Toyos when I replaced the rubber and love them. The fact that they got me home from Goodwood in the snow recently with any trauma is good enough for me! In the dry they're just awesome. However, they will be replaced by Toyos... as I have a full set in the garage that I was lucky enough to win at Fighting Torque last year smile

I recently put T1R on the front and can say that at 150 leptons she steers straight and true!

The dealer put Dunlop 3000 on the back when I bought it, and although these are no longer made, they do communicate the rear end drifting very nicely but much earlier than I would like.
