Hi cerb fans, a month ago i took out my dash to change the wood effect to brushed alloy. we fitted this yesterday but when i dorve the car, the speedo, rev counter and fuel gauge stopped working (fuel gauge was not disconnected). Also My water temperature gauge stopped working. While i was driving the car i also noticed the battery light staying on.

Also the new dash we put on, did have a motherboard connected behind it, so is it possible that this may be faulty and affecting the instruments? indicators etc are workign fine though

We are sure we connected everything back as it was, could we have pulled a cable that powers the guages or could it be the alternator? any ideas?

If all you have done is around the dash, and not touched anything else, the fault must be there!! You'll have to remove the dash top and double check all the connections, I know you will have done this already, but something must be either not connected or connected wrong (can any plugs be fitted upside down/wrong way round?).
The temperature guage is a mechanical guage, how did you swap the dash WITHOUT disconecting the tube? If the tube was cracked or split anywhere the guage will never work and needs to be repaired.
Maybe, but I don't know, the dash is earthed through the temperature guage tube and because this is broken the dash has lost its earth so other guages don't work? Try separately earthing the dash with some wire, who knows? Let us know how you get on, good luck.

I'd bet on the earth as the problem. Fibreglass cars are usualy more problematic as seperate earths are required as you cant just use the body.
As previously said, a temporary earth should prove it. Hope it's that simple.
