Cerbera tuning programme disk.
Discussion
Hi there fellow Cerbera peeps.
On my run to Le Mans, my 4.5 started to miss at low revs, and so I suspect that the throttle pots need re-setting. Hence this is why I need the disk, and also need the connection cable to allow me to connect my lap top. I used to have all this gear when I owned my first Cerbera many years ago, but like a fool I sold it. (Did'nt know that I could not live without a TVR)
If any of you have a copy of this programme and cable to sell to me, it would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks
Paul

click the link above and then press on 'easimap 5' and read what it says about the lead.

Cheers for that. I have ordered the lead from e bay as mentioned by Brogenville. A whole £3.59.
Will this lead however need to be modified or can I use it straight away?

Well, as julian states, there is a warning that using a null cable "could" damage some aspect of your ecu, but in truth, this does seem to be an outside danger. Myself and countless others have used such a cable on plenty of occasions with no problems (at least than I am aware of), and indeed apparently trackcar who has tuned plenty of cerbs in his time, also used such a cable.
Obviously its not a big deal to modify the cable, but if you're in a hurry, then I wouldnt worry too much about it.

Has anyone actually reported any real problem due to using a standard RS232 serial lead? I'm not doubting the validity of Julian's concern, but I can't find any posts on here that give examples of real problems.
Is it more likely to be a problem for a car that's been re-chipped, as mine has by Austec? I think I'll call them and see what they use. I've got a standard lead and I need to check my throttle pot calibration but I don't want to bugger the ECU, as it were.

Short story is that it isn't my concern
Its MBE's the maker of the ECU.
To put it in a nutshell the MBE941 was graunched with reduced capability in order to put it into the Cerb. The standard 941 has greater capability in terms of self mapping ability.
You will never run into problems with a standard RS232 lead with a standard Cerb. Unless all the other pins on the RS232 are earthed together, and that is rare to find on a standard RS232 lead as they are mainly pin to pin or just no wires present. If you mistakenly put one of these leads into a standard TVR the first thing you will notice is that the rad fans come on.
HOWEVER, if we release more of the functionality of the MBE later by altering its program. Something a few of us are looking into, then there is a distinct possibility that some MBE's will have been damaged as the MBE site says and although they will still continue to work as TVR MBE's the extra functions MAY have been damaged.
Thats a lot of ifs and MAY's, but honestly, the proper lead is only a few pence to put together. Why take the risk?

I am having trouble downloading the software from this link, and also my car is a 1999 model 4.5, and so what programme do I use when I eventually download it the old or new?
Many thanks and much appreciated

Section G - engine gives you info on using this: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dave.hinns/workshop.h...
although Peppe's write up for the speed 6 engine gives more info as well.

Yes but my computer has a female serial port as I suspect they all do and so the lead |I have has female both ends, Mmm a trip to Maplins I think!

I am doing well with this one! I cannot open the ECU programme from my computer as it says that it is not suitable for windows based programmes. Any help much appreciated.
Cheers

This is getting well in depth now.
The serial plug that I have has two female ends. (The one from the internet) These do not fit into the female plug on the ECU. (Obvious) I went to Maplins to get the right bits to make up and they said that they have never heard of a 1k05 resistor. I now have a serial to usb adaptor that will plug straight into the cars ecu. The car has a female plug on it and my adaptor has a male. Mmmm shall I try? or any advice would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks
