A recent 12k service picked up that my rear shocks were leaking slightly so im going to get them replaced before the mot in november, i asked Dom at Power about Nitrons and he mentioned the Racing Reds, does anybody have any experience of these yet as theyre pretty new still, or what are the alternatives?

Like everything else in life it is all down to how much you want to spend.
Nitron are probably the best, and if you do regularly do some serious track days, and want the best get Nitrons.
I wanted shocks for everyday use, and I chose Gaz Gold, half the price of Nitrons, and a huge improvement on the original shocks - I am more than happy with them.

As a side point, the dampers/springs are only as good as thier set up. I'd worry less about brands and more about who you're getting to set your car up... theres a lovely bloke in chesterfield who may be able to help there, I'd call him first, I think he may even be familiar with the car? smile

The car has Protechs fitted up front and standard shockers / springs on the rear (this was my preference when I had the car and it suited my driving style perfectly - road use). If you are going to track the car then Nitrons are worth the extra money, if you just want the best on the car then again go down the Nitron route or you can spend even more if you wish.

My advice would be to put the matching Protechs on the back. The fronts should be absolutely fine so it would be a false economy to ditch a shocker / spring that's almost as good as the Nitrons. Get someone like Joolz to check over the fronts (he fitted them and set them up for me) and get him to quote and fit the rears, he'll even set it up to your requirements. You would be very hard pushed to notice the difference between the Nitrons and Protechs unless you were pushing the car hard on a track. Another very costs effective alternative along with Gaz Golds and Protech are the Racing Reds....

Nice one Jules, it looks like a trip up the M1 is coming, i was going to get the purple hoses replaced at some point aswell so if i can save a bit by just getting the rear shocks changed to Protechs instead of a full setup then thats what ill do.
I think Joolz does the replacement short hoses?

Yes Joolz sells the replacement Whirlwind Hoses which is what you'll need. If you do remove the old ones is there any chance I could have them back please? I know it's a sad request but I'd be willing to make a small donation for them as they are the original prototypes that I used when developing the final version of the Whirlwind Induction kit.

Ill tell you what, perhaps we could sort it out between us and meet at Joolz place when i get it done, then your more than welcome to take them away. You can reminisce about your old car and wish you had it back instead of that clapped out old beemerwink
Or, i could just send them you after?

Let me know once you are booked in and I'll see what I can do, would love to see the Cerb again, especially as you have had a few nice bits done.
