Hi, I'm a new Cerb owner as of the last few weeks and have already started tinkering as the near side air box pipes have deformed due to previous over tightening of the puple pipe jubilee clips. I modified the box with short lengths of steel exhaust pipe after searching past postings on this forum, I'm really impressed with the site!

While doing all this I noticed what looks like a vacuum operated device on the rear of the fuel rail but it has no pipe attached. Can anyone help by letting me know what this should connect to, or should it be open to the atmosphere to measure air pressure? I've posted a photo here...

http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2707202030103... with the device highlighted.

Not sure if this is related but I also have the MIL light coming on when the loud pedal is fully to the floor evil. This happens at any revs above 2-3000, any ideas from the more knowlegable out there? I'm getting the parts to make a PC-ECU lead so should find out more when that's built. Here is a shot of my new beast if you are interested...

Cheers,

Tom.

Nice car Tom! Looks like a similar colour to mine!

Don't worry about the 'missing' pipe, its not supposed to be there. Its a fuel pressure regulator, but not necessary and isn't ever there.

Re the MIL light, you do need to be concerned about that. It could be a number of things. Best to hook up your PC and see what errors are shown.

If the light comes on at low revs one of the main suspects is the Lambda sensors (in the exhausts towards the front) but afaik they're not read at high revs.

Any old standard serial cable will be OK to talk to the ECU.

Enjoy!

Andy.

Hi Tom, looks like a lovely car.

As a new owner myself I noticed a similar MIL light problem and found this thread helpful:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I havn't yet had a chance to connect my laptop to the ECU to confirm that mt throttle pots need a little adjustment but if the MIL light is only on at full throttle then it sounds most likely you have the same (minor) problem.

Apparently the pots are easy to adjust slightly by hand until the ECU readings remain in the correct range. I'll let you know how I get on!

Simon, Thanks for this, I've was on holiday for a few days and missed your reply as the thread had slipped down the list a page or two by the time I got back. I've also just seen your ECU connection posting, so it looks like I need to get access to a pc with a 232 port fairly soon to confirm just what's going on. I had been thinking it may have been the purple pipes collapsing under vacuum at high rpm and wide open throttle settings.

Hi !

Before you start to move Tpots around check that the mecanical parts are correct adjusted. If the problem is in the balance between the throttles you will not be able to get the engine to run correct if you just adjust the throttle pot.
Jools has made a very good instruction for this. You can find it on Byker28i:s homepage.
