When they are quiet from cold, its when you need to worry.I have race cams fitted to mine. When cold they are horrendous.Once warm they quieten down considerably. But you can still here a bit of a clatter.

You didn't say how early your Cerb was. You may have one of the early ones that had 'Clatter Cams' fitted. These ones sound really tappety. (But they're quick!)

Just curious Alan.. How early is early for the clatter cams ? ie what time periods ?

So my 97 dosn't need the tappets resetting at vast cost then? i was going to get them reset at next service as it's been metioned that it shouldn't rattle like that!
But it runs fine and is very quick.

Then you probably have clatter cams.Like has been mentioned, its when they are quiet from cold that you have problems.
