can anybody tell me what is the best way to seal the exhaust manifolds to the cylinder heads on a 4.5 cerb? I have just had my manifolds ceramic coated and I am due to re fit them this week end, I have asked around and I have been told to use a smear of exhsust assembly paste between the heads and the manifolds, is this the best way? or is there a better soloution.

Don't suppose you could say who you got to coat your manifolds, and if so how much did you pay? I just asked the very same question yesterday, so im afraid I cant help you with what to use

I found the company from a friend, not sure on the cost but I think it is about £70 per manifold. I will find out who the company is and try and get the contact details for you as my friend has sorted it out for me.

i believe plain old automotive silicone sealer is the preferred choice. exhaust paste cracks and deteriorates quickly.

Well I had a look at a variety of the common automotive gasket sealants, but I couldn't find anything that was rated at more than 250 degrees. Is that really going to cope?

Have just found some high temp silicone sealer on e-bay that is good up to 1200 degree's, this stuff is for sealing furnaces etc.... cost is £5.99 and is called fire seal, I think that this should do it.

Ordinary 250°C silicone works just fine, bear in mind the cylinder head has water running through it otherwise it would melt ( ally goes a bit floppy post 300°C)
