Well I have finally joined the esteemed rank of Cerb owners at last. I did a deal on this and p/ex the Griff:

http://www.tonygilbertcars.co.uk/?page=viewcar&amp...

Quite discreet really! It's in great condition with no stone chips at all. It has the later headlight upgrade, sports exhaust, bigger AP Racing brakes, unmarked spiders, and ACT induction and remap. The only downside was no service since 2005 - but only 3k miles in that time. This initially put me off but the car has gone to TVR Power for complete service and checkover prior to sale and will come with 12 month warranty. I searched treads on the dealer and he seems to have a decent name so this helped too.

Can't wait to get it but it is unlikely to be ready before Le Mans Classic frown

welcome aboard Craig; looks a stunner. That extra power takes a bit of getting used to though.

I would think a Cerb is more linear in its power delivery than a Griff 500, i've certainly never had a problem, especially with that long throttle pedal travel.

Think i'll look up last years Fighting Torque results smile perhaps the 2/3rds of the Cerbs slower than the 2 Griffs that ran had a problemwink

Or perhaps the previous years Santa Pod TVR daywink

& I'm sure Craig is used to a bit of power hehe

thanks for the comments guys

you could say I am used to power yes - a bit like Bosscerbera in fact

I didn't get to push the throttle near the floor on the test drive but I must admit it didn't seem to have the instant low down torque of the Griff - power must be higher up the rev range. Still, the suspension felt as though it had moved the game on a fair bit from the Griff era. I also love the low cockpit!

If you want more lower down power; add short induction, exhaust and a remap - as a bonus it'll also mean more power everywhere else. hehe Best dashboard/interior I've ever seen in terms of feeling special. smile

Hi Craig. Yes it is. Took me a while to understand it but it's great once you know the car. I suspect a track would be the best place to use the upper reaches of it anyway.

The way i understand it is the short induction kit will increase top end power, if anything it may compromise low-end grunt if your car is in good shape pre-remap, but the overall gains are significant and you end up with a more linear power delivery.

Can I be the first to say you may not want linear power delivery.

Can I suggest linear power delivery is pretty much what the Griff did.

I may be talking out of turn here as you may have a lot of experience driving cerbs already, but I think the fun comes in the Cerb because its far more like a race car than the griff was.

Its peaky high revving engine, with little at the bottom, and relatively difficult gear changes with light flywheel is more involving than the Griff.

Try it for a while first before you change it.

Christ you do like to go on about it Del. Yes your car is very quick off the line/over the quarter and half miles thumbup, but why dont come with us in October for the Spa/Ring trip and join a few Cerbies on the autobahn, then we can see how quick it is (or how quickly it disappears in our mirrorswinkhehe)

Life's a marathon, not a sprint smile

Yup, but when combined with a remap/ exhaust I think you'll find the whole torque curve and power curve gets lifted nicely... and then even more so further up the rev range. evil
