Had a look at my next door neighbors mate 4.2 last night, been the only other cerbera i have seen and his throttle was really light, mine is like pushing in a heavy clutch! i just though this was how they were but its got me a little worried!
Are all 4.5's heavy or do i need to change the cable?

Try moving the cable in the engine bay to see if it is free moving and that the link bar is not rubbing somewhere. If the cable and link bar are fine, I would then check that bolts holding the pedal to the car to see that they are not to tight as they could be clamping the pedal arm to tight. I eased mine off slightly yesterday. If there is no restriction there it is probably the cable fouling somewhere in the liner.

I would't expect any throttle to be too tight or heavy. There is no reason for it, unlike the clutch for example. If it is heavy to press then i am surprised that it returns easily though. I would definately get it checked out because you do not want the loud pedal sticking to the floor in a car like that! Unless of course it is a very long runway.

Sign of the cable fraying, look up in the footwell at teh top of the pedal and in teh engine bay.

For £40 for a new it's worth changing.

Mine was like that but all better now with a new cable.

Cool, i will have a look tomorrow, the pedal returns fine and its not much of a problem, but as you say...... I don't want it sticking open or snapping!

Happened to me a few years ago - swap the cable - mind you, after that the accelerator pedal snapped off it's pivot - amazing how far you can go on tickover!
