The Purple and Silver Racer Rolls Again!
Discussion
Thanks to APM Andy I am back out again, "minor engine refresh" to fix the DNF at Snetterton in the Tuscan Challenge just as I was getting back into the thick of it after a s**t start compounded by leaving my transponder out of the car in qualifying!
I'm racing in the GT Cup at Snetterton on the weekend after next, 19th practice & 20th qualifying and two 25 minute races.
I see a couple of Aston N24s are out in Class C!! Should be interesting and some guest cars to tame the front running 997s have been invited in!!
I'm hoping to make a good showing in CLass B against the 360s and 996 Cup cars and with a bit of luck could end up near the front of this pack.
Out of the whole season I have only raced a full race at Donnington and that was from the back, having chucked it off in the wet in qualifying, so looking forward to having a bit of luck my way.
Andy has fitted some thinner machined valves which have made the engine crisper so this will be an interesting tweek. I'm running the TVR Cass B engine at 400 bhp (fly) whilst we build another 430 bhp engine (with exra torque) that I am now allowed in the GT Cup.
If anybody isn't going to Anglesey for the TVR race drop in and see us at Snetterton on Sunday.
Cheers
Jonny

Thanks Mike and also good luck to you at the new Anglesy circuit which should suite the Cerb in the Tuscan Challenge.
There are 32 cars out in the GT Cup at Snetterton this weekend and it looks like a long weekend with practice first thing Saturday morning, so we are down in the lorry on Friday night, and qualifying on Sunday at 10, races then at 12.30 and 16.30!
The grid is made up of:
Class 1 & Invitation
2x BMW M3 GTR V8s
8x Porsche 997 GT3s
1x Noble 400
2x Ferrari 430 Challenge
Class 2
7x Porsche 996 GT3s
6x Ferrari 360 GT Challenge
1x Lotus Exige
1x TVR Cerbera
Class 3
2x Aston Martin N24
1x BMW Z4 GT4
1x Porsche 944 Turbo
So that's about £3.5 to £4.0 million of machinery, not including the Cerb!!
We're still running the 400bhp engine which APM Andy has tidied up from the incident at Snetterton where the timing gear threw itself off when the big nut snapped (rather than snapping the crank as previously thought)and we are taking our time to build another 4.5 that will give a reliable 430 bhp which I am now allowed in the GT Cup. This engine will also be good for some shorter endurance racing that we plan to do next year.
We've got a new exhaust and diffuser that is yet to go on probably for the Brands GP on 8 August that should assist with sucking it down a bit more and will get rid of the buffeting air around the big back box.
All the best
Jonny

Good Luck Jonny.
Just remember.....When your sat waiting in the holding area,surrounded by new and late model Fezza's and Porkers.
That you're driving the Only TVR there.
Built in a seaside town in Northwest England, by a plucky little British Sports Car company ... that had it's Heart ripped out a couple of years back..
Powered by an engine that's no longer manufactured.
An Engine that's being kept alive by a small,scattered, group of skilled Engineers, who dont have the resources and might of the Porsche/Ferrari factories.
Remember that the other competitors and their supporters will expect you to break down.
And that to even get on the grid is an achievement.
Remember all the above ...
Then say "f
k Em" ... get out there, show them what an AJP Tivver can do ,bring the Cerb home Good ,and do us TVR boys Proud....
No Apologies for the Rousing Speech post.. Drink has been taken ,and my Blood still runs Purple

.Darren,
I like your theme, I think I recognise where the stirring image came from!!!
The fewer men, the greater share of honour!!
One TVR against the hun and fezza!
God's will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost (albeit it is an expensive sport!);
It yearns me not if men my racing garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires:
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive weilding a TVR spanner.
No, faith, my coz, wish not a man and car from England:
God's peace! I would not lose so great an honour
As one man more, methinks, would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this race,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made
And crowns for TVR convoy put into his purse:
We would not die in that man's company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.
This day is called the feast of Cerbera:
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Cerbera.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Cerbera:'
Then will he strip his engine and show his scarred pistons.
And say 'These wounds I had on Cerbera day.'
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day: then shall our names.
Familiar in his mouth as household words
Griffith, Tuscan and Tamora,
Tamar and Wedge, Sagaris and Chimera,
Be in their flowing oily covered cups freshly remember'd.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Cerbera Cerbpian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of TVR brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his oil with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not at Snetterton,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That raced with us upon Saint Cerbera's day.
Now I'm all empowered!!!!!!!!!Also assisted by a few glases of Pinot!!
Night Night!
