Due to my inept nature i have managed to remove the bonnet stay pole from the bonnet. rolleyes
Not the first time it's come off but it had been glued in the past.

Maybe glue is the wrong word but i need to put the bonnet stay back into the bonnet and fill the hole.

Suggestions on what to use so i don't end up melting the front off the car.

Cheers

I have done this too! I was having a 'moment' and pulled it at the wrong end. I plan to fibreglass it back in. I have tried superglue with little effect.

Isopon P38 body filler works but it is very messy.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Araldite-Rapid-Glue-FAST-STR...

Used this stuff on mine, we use it at work on the Jets to hold stuff on and is really good stuff, you can get it from any DIY shop.

How funny, just went out and checked the oil on water and mine fell off! Will rummage around in the 'glue box' tonight, pretty sure there is some araldite in there... smile

Thanks guys, that looks like the stuff.

I'll no doubt be back soon with a post entitled "How to remove glued hand from bonnet stay" but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Tesco have a good deal on some ratchet plastic clamps that help hold it in place, otherwise it can get boring holding it!

I repaired mine with some of that 'liquid metal' stuff you get from Halfwits etc. Like a putty? Sets like, well, metal hehe

My bonnet stay is going nowhere smile

I used the liquid metal stuff from Halfords on my boot latch worked perfect. Better still is Devcon epoxy plastic metal or even belzona if you can get hold of it.

I made metal replacements here, they hook over the main part of the bonnet, i used Sikaflex to bond it which is automotive body panel glue, then glassed over the top to ensure success! i also used sikaflex to then bond the bonnet back onto its strengthening bars.

Sorry to intrude but was there a company in the process of introducing a gas lift bonnet stay for Cerbs?
