I'd say 15kg was a good guess. I've just replaced my standard seats with Cobra Imola S and fitted Sparco 3" racing harnesses in black. It looks the nuts and the support is on another level. Also the Cobra's weigh around 6kg each, so a 20kg weight saving. The fitment was a PITA though - Cobra have fitted them in Tuscans and T350s and said they might fit, but they didn't. As the Cerb passenger seat comes forward to allow extra access to the rear, the bolt points are further forward on the passenger side. Also, as they are bolted in with no adjustability, you need to adapt to take into account leg length etc. I'm having to buy adjustable pedals to get the reach just right. Will post pics shortly.

Blimey longbow what a carry on! Were the old seats that bad? I quite like mine.

I had cobra imola S's in my rx-7, very good seat and great lateral and thigh support. Beats hanging onto the steering wheel around corners.

I managed to take the running gear off the oem seats and fix it to the brackets for the new ones, so I could still slide them back and forward. Not sure how feasible this would be on the cerb. Must be a bit tricky to get in and out of the back? biggrin

Eta I think had Imola 2's, v similar though. I wonder if you could fit pins rather than bolts, to allow them to pivot forwards to get in the back scratchchin

Longbow - have you retained the standard seat mountings since your body off rebuild? It was the first thing I was shocked by when I did the clutch and its now on the list of mods for our body off rebuild in November... eek

Won't the Imola's bolt onto the original runners?

Seat mounts are a bit shocking - the passenger seat is held in place by the rather thin GRP floor panel. The drivers side is slightly better, with the front two bolts going through a chassis rail. I've used larger washers both top and bottom, but other than this have left it as it is.

I could perhaps have used the original runners, but this would have meant destroying the standard seats (the runners are kind of rivetted into the seat squib) and I'm keeping the standard seats just in case I ever want to revert back. Access to the the rear is still possible for storing bits and pieces, but not for passengers for obvious reasons! The seats are all black, with the TVR logo in white replacing the Imola S text, and the Cobra text has also been removed.

Ah, the Cerb is a bit different to the Griff then... Both seats in the Griff just fix to detachable runners which then just bolt through the GRP floor yikes

I think we'll be making sure that all mounting points are attached in some proper metal way to the chassis when we do ours, the passenger seat was the one that shocked me the most yes! eek

I certainly won't be fitting harnesses in the Griff until the seats are actually anchored securely to the chassis and I fit some sort of rollover protection.

I am still trying to work out what to replace the Cerb seats with... we actually use the back seats still.

Edit: I think you'll find your Griffith seat belts themselves are mounted to err... fibreglass, badly if all the other griffs I've seen are anything to go by. eek

well thanks chaps. I look forward to seeing the pics. A 20kg weight saving is well worth having.
