thinking of selling the chim for a cerb but have a couple of questions. first am i mad?? is it going to cost huge amounts more on general servicing etc providing i dont buy a duff one? also i assume they dont leak as much if at all and are they lower than a chim as i have a very steep drive which sometimes i catch? lastly is the performance going be that much better over my 400smile im thinking of the v8 versions here.

1) No it's natural progression....wink
2) Only big repairs, if you're bothered about service history it will cost you more, if not then you can do it all youself it's not rocket science.
3) They can leak just as well if kept outside at all times (wet footwells)
4) Steep driveways could be a nightmare, it's longer and pretty sure the overhangs are greater. Get someone round with a Cerb to check.

As said, just do it.wink

As for the leaking, mine is outdoors in all weather (I'm in Scotland so "all weather" mostly means rain!) And she has never ever leaked, although she does have new seals i think, but a cheap upgrade!

As for the rest of your questions, the repair costs will be about the same if she goes wrong, everyone says you need £3000 in savings just in case, iv had mine for nearly a year and have only spent £135 on a rad re-core, so I'm going to do some engine upgrades soon with the money!

My mate had a 400, lovely noise but nothing like a cerbera in regards to speed and handling....

You wont regret it!

They've both got their merits. I've love the sound of a 4ltr Chim !!! Why don't you get a 5ltr Chim :-) !! Cerb requires high revs for that speed and quick no doubt about it. Try a 5ltr Chim and a Cerb and see which you prefer. I've had my Cerb since May 2007. Now on 58k. Only cost so far is £299.99 for a 6k service. Treat them gently from cold and they should be ok unless you get a duffer. They are a great drive though. Huge fun.

spend half my life on pistonheads just wondered it there were any sites with a blow by blow guide to buying rather than searching through several posts. i tried 5ltr chims and griffs before buying mine and to be honest didnt find a huge difference between the the two.whilst i like mine im just hankering for a cerb for a more sorted car with the increased performance plus i just love the look of them.

How much are you looking to spend?
This is the best car for sale at the moment, if you overlook this one you'll have missed a well sorted car, you won't have to do any upgrades.
Whirlwind induction and remap 400+ bhp
Ohlins
stoppers
bodywork faultless, and a splendid colour.
Well go on then, ring him.

hehe

I keep seeing that

At £8000, the new owner's got enough money in it, to go and get it painted there 'preferred' colour smile. Still surprised that hasn't sold.

Especially as someone on the "General TVR" forum has paid A Nigerian the same money for a 99 Speed six car that he hadn't seen/drove & that doesn't exist smile.....
