Are they easy to fit yourself? Any special tools needed?

Nope. Just a decent socket set if I remember correctly. The only problem you might encounter is rusty bolts. So have the WD40 handy.

The bolt that retains the holding plate at the front bottom of the battery can be a pain to clear when you actually remove the old battery, so just make sure you lever the battery upwards and kind of pull the battery at the same time, difficult but doable....

The halfords 072 battery has changed slightly and would not fit in mine.

Top Tip!!

Also watch where the positive wires are routed, when you go to put the F1 panel(sure thats what its called) back in it can catch on the wires

make sure when you refit the leads are up and out of the way, they can melt and short if too close to the manifolds.

All seems very easy - when I replaced the battery on my 4.5 cerb I had to take the N/S airbox off to get the old battery out and the new one in - fine then! I wonder if that was just an aberration in my car?

The airbox has to be removed on mine (4.2) as well.
