hi,
was out the other day and got caught in a shower, turned on wipers which were a bit slow but when the rain stopped went thruogh thespeeds to turn off and they got to the top of the screen on fastest setting and gave up. had to pull over and push back down again, my question is can this be fixed or is it a new motor job. im going to have a look under the scuttle panel tomorrow as im going to have a look at big fuse as my rev counter is flipping about evrywhere.
just moved to a cerb a few months ago after 3 years in a tuscan. love it.

Same problem here. You won't see much under the panel as the mechanism is hidden.

Got this happening too. Firstly try removing the top panel and on the passenger side just under the windscreen panel is the wiper motor and push the connector in firmly. You need quite small hands! Removing the motor requires removing the expansion tank first, bit of nuisance. Search wipers there's quite a few threads.

A few people on PH have mentioned about removing the n/s wiper so the remaining one works better, or I use Rainex on my screen and virtually eliminate the need for wipers anyway!
Just re read the OP and oops I didnt realise that they'd packed p completely, my bad.

It it was anything like my old one it was corrosion on the terminal block going to the motor. I got a new one from Mini spares and a new park switch, sorted them right out, and never had another problem.

Ths is a link for the new loom about £8
and this is the link for the park switch about £10

Although these are Mini parts they will fit are are direct replacements. The Wiper motor though is a different story. The wiper motor from a Mini will NOT fit a Cerbera. I gave out some duff infor about 3 years ago saying it will but the motor I used was not a standard Mini one.

Mine are exactly the same, ironically I have a reciept from a well known TVR specialist from November 2007 saying they've removed and refitted the motor for £75? My answer at the mo is to simply not drive when it rains!

I know this sounds obvious but have you checked the 20A wiper fuse? Mine packed up on Friday and it was the fuse. Strangely, I lost the indicators at the same time even though they are on a different fuse and they returned after I replaced the wiper fuse!

I've done quite a bit of work on my wipers, rebuilding one motor and replacing another. I've spoken to the original manufacturer and, although the design looks similar to the mini design, it is very different regarding power and cam. They are not manufactured anymore but there was someone refurbishing them. It is possible to find them at some suppliers/breakers.

Due to its unprotected position, the motor, gearbox and mechanism is very susecptible to corrosion.

I've fitted Leven blades which are excellent but also increase the friction. Great when wet bad when dry.

The only way to ensure the wipers are working well is to ensure the motor, gearbox and mechanism are operating smoothly and the motor is receiving sufficient current.

Due to the shape of the screen, wipe arc and motor power I'm not sure Cerbera wipers have ever been that great.

mine get stuck when the screen gets dry and if i dont manage to stop them. It seems yours got stuck that way. Just pour water over your screen and press the button. They should start operating again.

Adrian

Was it yourself that was refurbishing these motors. Are you still doing it and do you have contact details?

So, apart from refurbishing, do we have a definitive replacement for said motor if it isn't off a mini?
