Yet more questions i'm afraid. Recently i have been finding that when i am parking the cerb or at least turning at very slow speeds the window wipers start going and water sprays all over the windscreen. It's a great look when arriving at work.
It used to do it once or twice but at a few days ago while trying to sticking the car on a trailer to get it taken to the garage it started doing it again and the only way to stop it was to turn the engine off.

Because it only happens when teh wheel is turned my guess is that it's a wire being pinched or twisted. Before i go take the inside of the car apart has anyone else had this problem and know the fix?

Its possibly the wires from the steering wheel buttons earthing out on the steering wheel boss.

If you undo the 6 steering wheel allen keys you'll see the wires running from the buttons over the boss and down though to the connectors.

As the allen screws are done up they pinch the wires and break the insulation. great design rolleyes. Try pulling the steering wheel around to see if you can get the problem.

Fix- Insulate the wires enough so they don't get pinched, insulation tape etc should sort it or if you're feeling frisky file out some channels for the wires in the top of the boss thumbup

Do we find this ribbon cable inside the wheel as suggested in post two or is it hidden somewhere else?

There is a spiral wound ribbon cable in the steering wheel boss, plus flat ribbon cables following the steering column to the control boxes. Be very careful to clearly mark the cable and connector as they are simple pin connectors without any location key.
