Info / advice required on a Cerbera please......
Discussion
Hi Guys,
I keep thinking of getting myself a 4.5 cerbie.
The problem is, I`m concerned about the reliability of the Cerbera....And,I dont mean to offend anyone with this.
Is the Cerbera a minefield of problems.....????
My main concern is the engine, and transmission side of things....(Why dont the engines / Diffs & Shockers last over 50,000 mls without major concerns...???).
Chassis / arms corrosion and electrical gremlins.
Some years ago i built a Lotus Elite from the chassis upwards..And,That seemed to be Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious (L.O.T.U.S)...
What engines / Years should be avoided please....
Any Comments would be greatly rec`d.....
Thanks guys....Kev.

You need to do some searches.
A TVR is a higher risk car than most. If you want a safe bet then dont bother. But go for a 4.5, ensure the chassis is fine, buy a known car etc then you are probably safest. But what do I know, both my 4.5s needed rebuilds.
Personally I would buy a late model 4.5 LW Red Rose.

Well put it this way. I have owned three TVR's over the years. First was a Cerb 4.2 Bloody marvelous power but trouble, nothing serious.
Second brand new T350T. Loads of trouble and poorly built and could not wait to trade it in. Basically rubbish. After two years break I missed the marque so much I bought a 1999 Cerb 4.5 and again bloody marvelous but trouble. Need I say more as these cars will beat anything in sight, and very soon will be in your rear view mirror!!
Think of the price you will buy one for and it all makes sense, plus as they say "nothing in life worth having comes for free". Think Ferrari, Porka, etc. Mmm loads of money on outlay but will not beat a Cerb.
Budget for £1,000.00 a year to run it if you do your own repairs etc. £3000.00 per year if you dont.
