Racing At The Weekend
Discussion
I dont normally post much about our race escapades.....
However we have had a brilliant weekend at Silverstone and i thought i would share it with a few of you!
I had never been to Silverstone let alone driven the track and we didnt manage to test. So qualifing Saturday morning was our first attempt! A bit daunting!!
Not only did we manage first in class but we qualified first overall infront of the Tuscans!
The first race was seriously wet with silly amounts of standing water (sideways on the straights!) We managed to hold most of the Tuscans off but Dean Cook got past and we finished a credible 2nd overall 1.6 seconds behind Dean. We also got the fastest lap of the race! 1st in class.
Second Qualifing was dry but this time we only managed second overall behind Dean Cook by 0.057 of a second! But an improvment over the first session by 0.5.
The second race was also dry. I decided before the start that rather go for the class win i was going to try and win overall!!
I got a good start but deans much lighter and powerfull Tuscan led into the first bend. We traded the lead 3 or 4 times and also fastest lap.
In the end the Tuscan was just to quick down the straights for me to stay in front. I finished 0.257 behind dean but had a fantastic race!! The next quickest Tuscan in 3rd finished 50 seconds behind us!!
When we first started building this car people said that it would never be quick enough! I think we have now proved a Cerb (with a little more development)could be the quickest TVR around a track!!!
Results and Laptimes here. http://www.tsl-timing.com/brscc/2008/83231.pdf
Thanks
Mike

As you know I decided to not build a cerb as I thought it wouldn't make a good race car! lol at that now
Good to hear you did so well, the classes B and C must surely now have their power capped another 30-40hp though, it's just daft having a class B car faster than full on modded tuscan race cars, but oh so good to see
Well done, a tribute to your driving and the hard work Tony has put into the build

Excellent stuff Mike, well done
And they say yellow isnt the fastest colour for a Cerb

It's not - he'd have won if it were red

Thanks for all the comments!
We have a double header at Brands Hatch on the 7th of September. Would be good to have some Cerbera support.
Were taking the Brands round very seriously and are looking for the outright win.
We have a development plan for the car over the next 4 weeks so should arrive at Brands a bit quicker than before!
Cheers

Cracking race on Sunday. Hard to believe it's a class B car, running your road car's 4.5 and giving the quickest racing Tuscan a run for it's money.
You've built a great car there, you're clearly a great driver, and based on the chat I had with you a nice bloke too. Don't you just HATE some people
Mike
(I'll dig out some pictures and post them up later)

First thing you want to do is change your splitter at the front for an angled one
.
Second go on a diet, cos I think the cars lost all the weight it can
