Hi, anyone got any suggestions where's the best place to buy a set of 2 lambda sensors?

looks like £200 from clever trevor - anyone know a cheaper option?

just what i needed to hear! was just about to buy the genden ones but then I saw that it said land rover part, and thought it might be more for the rover based v8s than ajps, but if you say its ok, and genden says its ok, i guess ill give it a shot! thanks again guys, saved £60 there! Maybe its overkill me replacing both, but i figure if doing one, do both while at it

While we're at it (I have just ordered one). How bad is it to reach the lambda on the right bank (from drivers side)?

My throttle pot went and I think it has knackered the lambda too, as it' doesn't look like it's reading properly when compared tot he left bank sensor output (not dropping below 0.18, slow to respond, etc.) so I'm going to change it, just to be sure.

I have had a pair of the genden sensors on for a while without any problems.

Reaching the sensor its self on either side was a doddle from underneath. I found that the hard bit was getting enough reach and grip on the connector to unplug the connectors.

Well heres further reason for cerb owners to not be afraid of getting your hands dirty. just dropped the cerb this morning into a local jaguar independant garage to have the sensors fitted (i supplied the genden ones), even left a laptop with cable connected in car for their convenience so they could easily see if everything was ok with the sensors once replaced.

Just got charged £270.75 for the fitting. Ive got to stop being lazy and start doing this kind of stuff myself, but surely you need a car lift to properly get under car for this kind of job, no?

To those of you who do this kind of work yourself, and do it properly, sit back now and take some satisfaction!

Alan you big Wuss biggrin - Sure a ramp makes life a lot easier, but 2 axle stands at the front gives enough room to lie underneath and get it done. £270 sounds a lot just for fitting though, what's their hourly rate?

PS - Is it running any better now?

They are the same as Chim ones, currently £41 for 2 from USA Ebay & their NTK ones which are supposed to be the best...
See link I posted earlier in this thread

They take about half an hour to change wth the right box spanner (17mm) & ratchet crimp tool to join the wires (really easy job)
Been in my Chim for over a year & flown through last 2 MOTs

I failed to change mine in the end. The left hand one was easily reachable, but the one on the right... The entire manifold is angled towards the chassis, so the sensor is slightly angled away from the gap between the exhaust and the gearbox. Also, that manifold is slightly longer, so the space to twist the spanner in is less.

With the limited tools I had I simple couldn't get purchase on the damn thing. I could just about get one spanner to fit, but no room to actually move it, and that was with a larger spanner levering the manifold down.

In the end I gave up and sent 8bar of the earths finest up the manifold from my compressor. Lambda is now working a treat (although how long it will last is anybody's guess biggrin)

Some one from here tried to Email cos the link I posted on this thread didn't work, sorry (Track torque)

I tried to Email you back but the Email bounced back for some reason

Hopefully you'll look back on this forum & try this link for info you want -
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

If it doesn't work then go on the Chim forum & look under a recent thread called 'failed MOT' this has the info you require for the cheap Lambda sensors

Good Luck
Bryan

definitely running a whole lot better, especially at lower half of the rev range

yes! mine would sometimes stall, i wasnt sure whether it was down to the idle being set up wrong, but seems much happier now. also it was, especially once hot, a bit "kangaroo" when in 1st and second at low revs, best thing is to stick the laptop on it, it shows the prob fairly quickly!

Im just waiting for a cable to be delivered, and need to find someone with a laptop with the correct conection, does the laptop give you a list of stuff that's wrong or do you need to look at each system?
Sounds similar to me, also at about 6k she looses lots of power.

a usb-to-serial converter should do the trick if you have no 9pin rs232 connector on laptop.
