Looking for 50-70+ BHP
Discussion
My 4.5 is putting out 355bhp which I’ve been told is healthy, I’m considering getting the induction done (and re-map?) to take it above 400 and wondered who/what products are best.
Jules or Act?
Indie + rolling road?
I’m not chasing every last HP, just want her to be hitting the numbers she should have from the factory and hopefully enjoy a touch more oomph.
Experiences and advice welcomed.
Cheers,
D.

Another vote for TCS here. The mapping work Joo did on my car was absolutely spot on. Drivability improvments as well as outright power.
If you're looking for the full 420, short induction and map may fall a wee bit short (408 on mine), so maybe look at a fancy manifold or a little head skim as well.
I should also say that I've been very pleased with the service from ACT too in getting my exhaust, but can't comment on Tim's offering wrt mapping etc.

4.0 330-355bhp - 300-310lb/ft
4.2 330-355bhp - 310-320lb/ft
4.5 330-365bhp - 320-350lb/ft
4.5RR 360-400bhp - 330-360lb/ft
Anywhere in between those figures is normal for a standard car, top end of those figures and you have a "good'un", but if you do have one near the bottom end or lower then there is usually a reason, so either mechanical intervention is required or a tune-up / map / remap.

Mmm interested... How are residuals and reliability affected by such conversions?
If anything reliablitity might be improved, you make much more hp through the whole rev range so to make the same progress as before you need less throttle / revs .. and the fuelling is much better once remapped so none of this oil-killing overfuelling that the std cars suffer from. You'll also use less fuel if you drive sensibly (didn't NickCC average 31mpg on a gentle run on the motorway recently?) .. it's one of those rare occasions when it's pretty much win-win.I also saw a significant improvement in fuel economy. I'm not hugely bothered about the cerb's mpg but I did a double-take on the fuel gauge even on the way back from TCS.
A few months later I measured an avg of 27 mpg on a trip through Europe, the previous two such trips were 22 mpg.
A remap is a must for a 4.5, we all agree. The only variable really is what to have done before you have it remapped. It's better to have all your intended mods in place and then map the car rather than take it in after each change. This might cost more in the short term but you'll have more time to enjoy the car at its proper potential and you'll save on incremental work. Just MO...
Having said that, the ACT manifolds are now beckoning, doh!
