Hi all,

Just after some advise for my 4.2 Cerbera. I cant seam to get the cooling fan behind the radiator to come on. I have never heard it on and the car is getting a bit on the warm side now and again. How can I force it on etc to test it..

Pictures of where stuff is etc much needed.

Thanks,

Tom.

Either go digging round the back of the fans and find the two pairs of red and black cables and put a positive lead to one of the red sides, or go to the fuse box, pull out the two relays closest to the bulkhead and put a jumper across the two horizontal slots (one pair for each fan)

The cooling fan is switched on by the ecu via the temperature sensor in the metal pipe at the front passengers side under the bonnet, next to the bottom of the radiator. It's not unusual for the terminals in the sensor to get dirty/corroded, maybe try and unplug it and give it a good clean up.
If you switch the ignition on while the sensor is unplugged I think, but maybe wrong, the ecu defaults to putting the fan on all the time.
If the fan still doesn't work, mine had a bad connection in the main wires to the fan which are usually tucked under the radiator in the dirt and wet, they just needed a clean again. Hope this helps, sorry I've no photos

Right.. I have disconnected the heat sensor and no fan. 12V to the fan sets it spinning.

There is also two connectors going to one fan.. how can you tell which one should be conneced??

Ideas??

May get it on a switch till i can get it sorted.

Thanks

The fans come on a 92 and 95 DegC.

I just let mine sit ticking over until they kicked in to test them.

Amazing how good my temp gauge was with the bonnet up!
But once in traffic, it all gets a bit warm under the bonnet and the gauge does move around.

Make sure you have enough coolant in it!
Very misleading as you can see the level but it just keeps drinking it once you get near the filler neck!
