what's that brown stuff on the window?

Is what the misses said as we were driving to the airport today.

On closer inspection (and very alarmingly) it looked like oil was spraying onto the near side winscreen!

A 1000 things ran through my head,

Had I blown the engine?!

Had the oil cooler blown?

And why the he'll was there oil on my window!?

I pulled over sharpish and got out, the near side was splatered with oil! I opened the bonnet and the engine bay was soaked, I was craping myself!

Luckely on closer inspection the oil filler cap had come of and oil had been spraying out of the hole! And lucky again the cap had got stuck in the intake pipes.

Was a lucky outcome but my heart nearly came out my mouth a few times!

Good to hear it wasn't expensive. Any idea how much oil you lost?

Same thing happened to me only it was on a track day at Brands. Found mine a few months later stuck between the radiator and chassis.

Not sure, just back in the country so I'll have a look while she's cold, hopefully not to much!
