PowerFlex diff bushings - can they be cut?
Discussion
I'll hopefully be fitting the PowerFlex bushings to the diff on my car during the next week but, seeing as they are such a pig to fit, I got thinking about whether they could be cut in the center and fitted from either end (just like the way the suspension ones are supplied).
I can't see any reason that they can't be split as they are held securely in place and it shouldn't really be a problem.
Have any of you done it?
How did it work out?
I will use the "big sledge" method if I have to but if there is an easier option I'd be well up for that.

The biggest problem for me has been getting the diff out (it's still not fully out ..... but I'm close).
The two bushings in the two brackets will be no bother as a blowtorch and a hacksaw will sort them out pretty quickly.
The bushing in the body may be a different story.
If all goes to plan I'll be getting stuck into it in about an hour so I'll keep you all posted as to how it goes.

Not sure if its the same on a Saloon but on a Griff its "just" possible to do it without dropping the diff out The two bushings in the two brackets will be no bother as a blowtorch and a hacksaw will sort them out pretty quickly.

A void bush tool will help either way
They don't need to be cut.
I've got the diff out and I have the two bushings fitted to the front mounting plates and they went in pretty easily.
It's definitely easier with the diff out as I now have decent access to the back mounting and I'll get that done in the next day or two.
I'll locate the original thread on this subject and add my updates there.
