Hello - after much snooping on here I've taken the pluge and changed from a Chim to a 97 4.2 cerb at last.

Now I have my first problem - the car will start and run for for a few seconds, then stalls unless you give it some throttle. It was running fine yesterday. When stalling occurs the MIL light comes on. Now if I turn the ignition on the MIL lights flashes / flickers on and off - this corresponds to a clicking noise from either the fuel rail / injectors or the alternator. I've tried disconnecting each injector in turn but that doesn't affect the clicking. It's seems to be obvious that whatever is causing the clicking is turning the MIL light off and on and thus preventing the car runing properly bu the question is what?

Is this the 100amp fuse playing up?

There are others on here who will be able to confirm (or deny) my suspicions.

Do a "search" under 100amp fuse for more info.

I looked at the fuse and it seems OK. I've also disconnected the main alterator feed and the clicking continues. MIL light now seems permanently on but clicking is still there when ignition is on; having said that it now runs better if I start it but with MIL light on. Have also pulled what should be the fuel pump relay and this doesn't affect clicking either.

Where is the clicking physicaly coming from? Inside, outside, back front? Can you use a stehtoscope or a long screwdriver to isolate it?

Clicking was coming from somewhere in the centre between the fuel rails - no idea what - but I've sorted it! ( I think) It was water inside the ECU main plug which must have been causing some problem elsewhere. A spary with WD40 and all seems well again. Thanks for the suggestions anyway
