Being a bit of a tart, I got the paint shop to do me a match last time I was in there, with a view to touching up some of the stone chips on the front end in lieu of a proper respray next year.

I wasn't expecting very good results, but I made a bit of a pleasantly surprising discovery.

Quite a few of the stone chips have little "blisters" round the sides where the lacquer has lifted slightly, making them look a lot worse than they really are. Using a "00" paint brush, if you touch the tiniest drop of paint in the centre, the lacquer sucks it up and the blister largely disappears. I suspect it also helps prevent the blisters from spreading, which a couple seem to have done.

All in all, a far better result than I was expecting.smile

LOL. I knew somebody would ask that.

Here's one of the front before, showing the general level of stone rash (the photo is actually quite generous - it looks worse in real life - and it's about 8 months old now so has obviously got worse in the meantime)

I'll try and do an after when I go down to the garage later on today to give an idea of the overall improvement. (trying not to either forget the camera, or leave the camera down there!!)

What you really need though is a good quality camera with a telephoto lens to do a 5 second video of one of the spots "sucking" up the paint by capillary action. It's quite impressive!
