Just another quick question on the potential route to cerbera ownership. Will a cerbera fit in an otherwise empty single garage? My garage is one of the more generous single garages, but I still fear that I won't be able to open the door of a cerbera inside it. If they won't fit, and it wouldn't surprise me if they don't, how do they take to living outside?

Yes it will fit, and you will be able to open the door, stop worrying. It's not a big car, and although they do have long doors, it will be fine in a single garage, you just park it close to the wall on the passenger side.

Or alternatively you get out of the car first and then roll it into the garage. Don't forget the carpet on the wall trick to stop hitting the door on brick/concrete.

Something i've been looking at too.

AFAIK

Cerbera...
Length overall = 4310 mm
Width = 1470 mm

The wife's Megane
Length overall = 4220 mm
Width = 1777 mm

The Megane hatch has fairly long doors too, and is slightly wider, and I can get out comfortably in what I would say is a fairly standard garage.

Hopefully my Cerb figures are fairly accurate!

Excellent news then. The main worry was the long doors, rather than the width of the car itself. Whilst it wouldn't stop me looking for one, it would annoy me quite a lot to get home only to ding the door on the garage!

Mine lives on the Drive (don't tell the insurer's!). Just needs washing more often

There are a number of known potential places for them to leak in water, which a search will throw up, but as I have not had a problem with leaks myself I cannot advise.

This is what I do when i've got another car in the garage. (I have a double garage).

Carpet on the wall, carpet at the front, hang a rolled up sock from the rafters so you know when to stop (so the sock hits the windscreen).

Sorted.

I've got a single garage and finally got the car in after I got some wide span shelves that I'd spotted at the PH Show.

I went for 2315x900 - wide and deep enough to allow the lower shelf to sit at a height so that the car's bonnet can slip in underneath. Lower shelf supports 1100kg and the upper 400!

Only other thing was a spot of carpet fixed to the wall where the door opens. Lovely jubbly.

Just do what I did. Ask the nearest Cerb owning PHer if they could pop over and park their Cerb in your garage to judge for yourself. As Budaholic did one afternoon. Much to the delight of my neighbours two 6 year old daughters. After Bud left, they asked what it was, and if I was going to get one. When I said yes, they danced on their front drive in excitement woohoohehe

That sounds like quite a good idea, although I would have to empty the garage out first! It would help prepare the neighbours for the ensuing aural assault though! hehecloud9

My very kind!!! older brother looks after mine while I work abroad he even cleared out his garage and washed it out for the privilidge plus carpet on the walls to protect that opening door. He did say though on start up the first time all his neighbours rushed out of there houses thinking a harrier jet was about to land in the road?? The local kids love it and wait outside once they see the doors opening on a sunny Sunday morning not sure all those laying in bed with a hangover are as happy!! Good times cant wait to get back into it

Don't accidentally reverse into your garage one day then!

I've hung an old mirror from some shelves so I can see the nearside as I go in and out of the garage, plus I've got carpet on both sides but I still have to put the seat all the way back to get myself out without doing myself an injury! wink
