Low milage running.....
Discussion
Hi again Guys,
I`m thinking of purchasing a Cerbera from one of the guys on here....
BUT....This will be a 3rd car,and,Will only be used in good weather and be insured on a low milage insurance.
The problem is :-
I have read that these cars dont like this kind of treatment...And,Prefer being ran everyday....Now,I do understand some of the reasons behind this...Which applies to any motor vehicle....IE,The oil gets drained off most of the components whilst stood,Therefore relatively speaking a dry start...To combat this i have usually put a switchable link to the petrol pump,And always turned the engine over till the oil pressure is achieved before starting a car that has been stood..This doubles up as a anti thieft device also....
Is this the reason why people say thay have hit problems with i suppose lay up runs.....????
I being a mechanic for 32 years,Also understand the importance of clean oil on a regular basis...And,Using a good quality fully synthetic oil rich with polyalphaolaphins and esters......And allowing the engine to warm up fully before asking it to work....
I do a lot of work on Japaneese performance vehicles ...Scoobie wrx sti`s,Evo`s,Supra`s,skylines ect..Which all like clean oil on a regular basis,So this would`nt present a problem in that area at all...
Can you forsee any other problems with the low milage ownership of a cerbera please.....???
Cheers....Kev.

You only think you won't use it everyday mate
Tis true.
It may be your third car (as mine is) but does the most mileage (as mine does).
When I bought the second Cerb I thought I'll love it, cherish it, clean it - as soon as I got it I thought Ferk it... I'm going to drive it - everywhere.
Milk = 50 miles
Bread = 48.5 miles
Milk & bread = 150 miles
...and so on.
Enjoy.
I'm doing only 1500 miles per year in mine. In the early days of ownership I did have a few problems but this was only wear and tear and not due to lack of use.
4 years on and still only doing 1500 miles per year and the car is better than ever, probably more time spent loving the car than driving it.
Only one thing I can say about not doing many miles is that the car does need the lap top to adjust and set up the Throotle pots more often, but this isn't a problem as it is easy to do and I enjoy it. I might add that I'm a very fussy person and things have to be perfect before I'm happy.

Only did 4K miles in mine this year
Because of the poor winter weather it never really got taken out, then with my exhaust issues it never really got driven for 3 months of the summer.
It may only get out every other weekend at the moment but it doesn't seem to have affected it. I keep it in a garage with an optimiser plugged in and that seems fine.

that surely makes it your first car?
