Due to go and have a look at a cerb over the weekend and thought I should ready myself with an insurance quote for instant cover just in case.

Holy schmoly!! First quote was £1925 and the lowest I got was £995 from Flux.

My last car, a group A cossie powered Noble P4 came in at the princely sum of £230, and previous to that my 302 Cobra rep came in at £260 - both fully comp and 3000 mile restriction as second cars.

Needless to say the TVR quotes have been a bit of a shock, lol!

At the age of 42 with a clean license I thought I was beyond £1k plus insurance!

Where's the best place to go to get a reasonable quote?

Footman James was the £1925 (and who previously insured the Noble - which is why I now have Hypertension, lol!)

That's insane at 42, you should get it sub £500 fairly easily I would have thought - Strange though, I am with Adrian Flux and at 36 am under that so can't see how the best they can do is £900!!

Hagerty have a "future classics" policy for anyone over 25 with a clean licence, so long as the car is garaged and a 2nd vehicle.

They quoted me £421 (inc. trackday cover at £30 per event). I went with Flux again who cut my renewal premium from an original quote of £679 to £400.

I'm 30, living in central edinburgh, with one SP50 and one years NCB, BTW.

Try http://www.gocompare.com/motoring/ and http://www.confused.com/ - it's a bit of a palarva filling in all the info, but worth it.
