Check the control box in the boot on top of the tank. The 2 red wires I think mite be loose or burnt out.

If you have a 4.2 99% sure it is the connections to the control box, on top of the left hand side of the fuel tank. I repaired one for Central a couple of months back.

Had a similar issue, my lights were flashing rapidly, sometimes staying on, sometimes off.

In my case it was a loose connection behind the dash, the wires that run behind the light switch, had a little fiddle, worked fine since.

It seems to be a common fault. Mine went the same way, two of the wires shorted and burned the white plastic part of the connector.

Its worth checking ALL the boxes and connectors while you are at it.
I found a few of my other connectors to be showing signs of burning up!!

Bingo! thanks everyone who responed to my post, just down loaded the recently copied workshop manual that some kind brother of the cerb. has put on the share site Cheers to that man... this shown me the dip beam is on a seperate Control unit, on the driver side of the fuel tank. Both the light control unit and the dpi control unit had melted connections within the multi blocks. I have cut out the melted section with a junior hacksaw and crimped on new spade connections, don't look too good but put back together after cleaning of the spades and plenty of 'vasalene' and the lights work perfectly, thanks again. Now where is the next problem?...
