Just been underneath fitting a new speedo sensor and noticed that the ends of the rear anti roll bar look like they must touch on the body when going over bumps, just above the drop links! There doesn't appear to be much gap and I've always had a light knocking sound when going along bumpy roads.

Is there any way these could be adjusted to create more of a gap, one side looks closer than the other!

Thanks.

The only adjustment would be to shorten the drop link by screwing the rod end on as far as it will go in the hopes of reducing how far the ARB travels. Or even getting a shorter rod (but that will alter the ARB geometry).

Carefully cutting away the bodywork will also give a bit more clearance but overdoing it will leave a hole.

This doesn't make sense to me.

I've never noticed the ARB to be that close to the body.

Is it fitted correctly?

If it's been knocking then you'd expect to see damage on the body, and probably witness marks on the part of the ARB that is hitting it. If there's no damage it's unlikely that they have been hitting. You could confirm that by putting some masking tape over the potential contact point and going for a drive. If the masking tape is undamaged you can be pretty sure there's no contact.

The spherical bearings on the end of the links do wear, this makes that knocking noise. I replaced mine and it made the car so much quieter. They cost me a tenner a side to buy from a bearing supplier.

There are marks on the body, which is what drew my attention to it. I just wrapped some rags around the ends of the ARB and the tops of the drop links and went for a drive. There was definitely less knocking.

Perhaps I need a combination of new drop links and shave a bit of the inner wheelarch off. Thanks for the suggestions all!
